Nike Golf athlete John Cook captured his fourth career Champions Tour victory at the Charles Schwab Cup Championship in
Cook recorded a standout performance on the greens with his new Nike METHOD putter, having led the field in putts per greens in regulation and in putts per round. The Nike METHOD putter already has been used by Nike athletes to win three times on the PGA Tour, including two major championships. Paul Casey used it to win the Shell Houston Open and Lucas Glover and Stewart Cink used it to win the U.S. Open and the OPEN Championship, respectively. The successful METHOD Putters will be available at retail on February 1, 2010.
In addition to his putting, Cook was pleased with the way he drove the ball with his Nike SQ DYMO STR8-FIT driver, which was set to a position of 1-degree up and 1-degree open. “I just drove the ball nicely and hit it with some pace and hit a lot of greens again,” said Cook.
Helping him to an 81.9% average in greens in regulation, Cook used the Tour proven combination of the Nike Victory Red (VR) blade irons and the Nike ONE Tour golf ball. Rounding out Cook’s Nike arsenal for this win were his 53- and 59-degree VR wedges. Cook was wearing Nike Golf apparel and Nike Golf Air Zoom Tour footwear for his victory.
In 2009, Nike Golf athletes have won a total of 18 tournaments on the respective professional tours.
