Four Australians earn OneAsia cards
Mon, 16 Jan 2012
Twenty further golfers, four of them Australians, have earned the right to play the OneAsia Tour in 2012 following the completion of the Final Stage of Qualifying at the Sutera Harbour Golf Resort in Sabah in Malaysia today.
Korean Kim Gi-whan closed with a three-under-par 68 to lead the qualifiers by five shots over is compatriot Song Young-han.
Tasmanians Kalem Richardson (11th) and Clint Rice (14th) made it through along with West Australian Stephen Dartnall (18th) and Victorian Michael Choi (19th).
Richardson, who only recently turned professional, now has a card to play on the One Asia and Australasian Tours although the latter provides only limited status.
Rice has played the Canadian and Australasian Tours for most of his professional career to date, Stephen Dartnall has played the Nationwide Tour over the last few years after an oustanding amateur career and Choi has played on the Canadian and Australasian Tours.
Dartnall has also played a few One Asia events previously and in 2008 finished 3rd behind Tim Clark at the Australian Open Championship.
Australians to miss narrowly were Gavin Flint (22nd) and Paul Gow (24th).
The first event of the 2011 OneAsia season begins with the Indonesia Open on March 15th
